Wellness Saturday: Forest Bathing
May 30 @ 9:30 am
Welcome in spring with a variety of wellness programs along our trails. Wellness programs occur on the last Saturday of every month and are free to the public. Registration appreciated.
Come “bathe” in our forest! Shinrin-yoku is a term that means “taking in the forest atmosphere”. It was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventative healthcare. Exposure to phytoncides, an airborne chemical produced by trees, increases disease fighting cells and boosts the immune system. We will sit and walk gently through our diverse deciduous trees, gathering aromas of wood, plants, earth, and trees. Afterward, we will sample pine needle tea from our own white pines.
