For SchoolsThe Schuylkill Center’s 340 acres of fields, forests and ponds are a living laboratory for students of all ages, preschool and beyond. Since 1965, hundreds of thousands of students have benefited from our field-tested educational offerings, everything from guided walks to live animal assemblies in your school. Our programs, themed to the Pennsylvania State Academic Standards for Environment and Ecology, give students the opportunity to more fully understand concepts through hands-on activities as they make discoveries and connections. And new this year: check out our unique farm programs where students dig into urban agriculture—literally!—and workshops where art and science blend as students explore nature through art. In addition to a guided program, your students can explore our indoor Discovery Center, lunch in our picnic grove, and visit our gift shop. If you can’t arrange a trip to our center we’ll come to you! Check out pages 11 and 12 for extended offerings of workshops and experiences we present in area schools. Programs are held rain or shine. During inclement weather, an engaging, hands-on program utilizing the Center’s extensive natural history collection and environmental education activities will be conducted indoors.
