The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education invites teachers to be part of our Environmental Education Advisory Board. Also referred to as the Teacher Advisory Board, this is an opportunity for teachers from many different fields, school settings and backgrounds to discuss ways in which environmental topics are delivered in schools. If you are an active teacher and have an interest in teaching about the environment, then your involvement with The Schuylkill Center can begin or continue on our Advisory Board.

The Center's education mission is to bring environmental education to as many children and adults in our region as possible, in ways that will create lasting memories for individuals and inspire future generations of environmental stewards. One of the ways that we can further this mission is by learning from you and other teachers.

The Environmental Education Advisory Board convenes several times throughout the school year for facilitated discussion and integrated skill-building on topics relevant to teachers across all contexts, such as providing opportunity for inquiry in the outdoors, incorporating environmental service-learning projects and wearing multiple hats as a teacher and mentor.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to meet with other teachers who share an interest in environmental education and continue to learn about topics and resources. You'll also be providing valuable feedback to The Schuylkill Center on the needs and direction of environmental education in schools.

For participating in at least three Advisory Board activities each year you will be eligible for a free teacher membership to The Schuylkill Center and discounts on school programs. In addition to these benefits, being a part of the EEAB will provide opportunities for us to learn from one another as we build a stronger network of teachers in our region.

Meeting dates are:

Thursday, February 24th Planning for native plants in and around your school, service projects, fund-raisers and more.

Wednesday, May 18th Advisory Board on the road meeting hosted at a school, where well explore a teachers grounds and green building features!
