Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic-Species We Treat

At the Schuylkill Center's Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, staff and volunteers are dedicated to preserving a future for native wildlife species by working with the local community to promote species conservation as well as medical care and refuge when native wildlife is hurt through oil spills, habitat loss, environmental poisoning, pet predation, and impacts with cars, lawn mowers, weed whackers and windows. One of the most surprising facts about the Wildlife Clinic is the diversity of species that we treat...over 130 different species in 2008! As one of the largest inner-city wildlife centers in the world, we treat our share of squirrels and sparrows, but we also treat an enormous array of species within Philadelphia and its surrounding counties.
The fact that we see such a diversity of species is a symbol of hope that a healthy, vibrant environment is still within our grasp...and also a stern reminder of how quickly it can slip away.
