Youth Meigs Award Ceremony
We will celebrate the winners of our 2023 Youth Meigs Award, which recognizes local environmental youth leaders who embody a spirit of leadership, integrity, and vision. This year, the winners Harmoni Robinson and Chloe Cantiello from Walter B. Saul High School and Josephine Schirling from Lankenau High School will present their creative responses to the word prompt "Adapting" in the form of a short story, video, and poem, respectively. Nature’s Alchemy Festival
Free, family-friendly environmental arts event with workshops and demonstrations celebrating collaboration between artists, artists-to-be, and the natural world. The Bird Ethic – Opening Celebration
Artist-in-residence Susan Hagen’s solo exhibition, The Bird Ethic, is opening in our gallery and on our trails October 7th. Hagen’s diorama-inspired outdoor sculptures capture historical moments in bird conservation, bird science, and humankind’s impact on bird populations, guiding guests to take action to repair our interconnected world. Join the Schuylkill Center for the opening of our brand new exhibition, Slow-Burning Rapture. In Slow-Burning Rapture, artists dissect and create personal, cultural and nationalistic myths in order to make sense of our ecological future. Join us for a guided hike through the Wildflower Loop to see some of Philadelphia's finest spring ephemerals! Together, we will get an up-close opportunity to identify and admire multitudes of spring epithermals ranging from beautiful Virginia bluebells, dainty spring beauties, robust trilliums, and more.
