Environmental Science Merit Badge

Don’t miss out on this opportunity for your scout to earn the Environmental Science Merit Badge, a required badge for those pursuing the Eagle Scout rank. In this two-day program, scouts will make observations and carry out experiments to learn more about our natural world. Test for air pollution, record biodiversity in a forest plot, and conduct an experiment to learn about the effects of oil spills on waterfowl. A workbook will be provided to guide scouts through the experiments. At-home exercises are required prior to the second session in order to earn the merit badge (see below). Registration is required and closes one week prior to the first program. Both sessions are required. We’ll hike rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

Scouts should complete requirements 1, 2, 3e, 3f, 5, and 6 on their own prior to the second session.
