Environmental Science Merit Badge – SOLD OUT
*This is a two day program with the other date on November 14. $40 is the price for both days.*
Don’t miss out on this opportunity for your scout to earn the Environmental Science Merit Badge, a required badge for those pursuing the Eagle Scout rank. In this two-day program, scouts will make observations and carry out experiments to learn more about our natural world. Test for air pollution, record biodiversity in a forest plot, and conduct an experiment to learn about the effects of oil spills on waterfowl. A workbook will be provided to guide scouts through the experiments. At-home exercises are required prior to the second session in order to earn the merit badge. Both sessions are needed in order to complete the badge. We’ll hike rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Space is limited; registration is required. Masks are required and temperature checks will be conducted prior to the start of each program.

Pandemic Play: Spread Joy, not the Virus
Here’s a lecture perfect for frustrated parents navigating the current COVID world, with both you and your children spending too much time online. Come learn how Studio Ludo, a non-profit design firm specializing in play, uses play during the pandemic to fight against social disconnect, preserve parental happiness, and build more resilient, happier kids. They believe that play helps us live life a little more fully. The evening is presented by Meghan Talarowski, Studio Ludo’s executive director, who believes that play environments in the United States can, and should, be better. Her research focuses on how the design of play environments impacts physical health and social behavior of children and caregivers.
