Wildlife Clinic Volunteer Info Session
Do you want to be a part of the ever-growing group of great people who will help rehabilitate thousands of animals? We're looking for Clinic Support, Animal Care, Facilities Maintenance, Transportation, and Wildlife Hotline Volunteers. Want to immerse yourself with nature? Come and learn how to identify native and non-native plants, gardening basics, and more. This group maintains our Courtyard Garden, weekly. Tasks include, and are not limited to: weeding, deadheading plants, removing unwanted plants and planting new plants. Want to join us? Little ones ages 2-3 years old, together with a favorite grown-up, will discover and explore the wonders of nature through sensory-focused experiences. This six-week series features walks, songs, and stories as a part of a hands-on, emergent learning approach beloved in our Nature Preschool. It is a great way for your youngster to grow their roots in nature-based learning. Space is limited to 10 participants. Drop-in rate for one session is $25 members, $30 non-members (if space is available).

Help us care for plants (to be sold at our plant sale) in our greenhouse by pruning, watering, and other gardening related tasks. Volunteers may also be asked to assist with plant sale related tasks such as, and are not limited to, labeling plants and packing orders. From the colorful autumn leaves to the fresh snow of winter, discover the beauty and wonder along our trails through this FREE weekly self-guided program. Pick up a nature exploration kit at our Visitor Center and then hit the trails to complete the activities inside. Explorer kits can be picked up anytime between 10:00-12:00 on a first-come, first-served basis. Explorer kits have activities in them that are meant to be done along our trails and then returned when finished. All…

If “the earth laughs in flowers,” as wrote Emerson, then this walk will leave you guffawing as we visit stands of trout lily, trillium, shooting star, Virginia bluebells, cohosh, and more. In an annual tradition, Executive Director Mike Weilbacher takes you down the Ravine Loop to visit these ephemeral beauties and share the extraordinary life stories. Space is limited to 25 participants. Registration is required. This event is canceled due to weather and low enrollment.

Become a steward of our organization and work with us to maintain the grounds and structures at our Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic. Volunteers will assist with weekly tasks such as, and are not limited to: mowing, weed whacking, fixing animal enclosures and other small handy-person assignments. In addition to weekly tasks, time will be utilized to work on bigger projects, such as converting an unused enclosure into a beautiful garden. Want to join us? Find out more »Spring Fungi Hike with the Philadelphia Mycology Club
Morels, chicken of the woods, and oyster mushrooms–with the temperate weather and rainy days of spring, the forest starts to come alive with different varieties of fungi. Hike along our Ravine Loop as we learn how to identify common fungi and discover what makes each so unique. Hike route is roughly two miles in length with hills and some rocky, uneven terrain. Good hiking shoes are recommended. Space is limited to 25 participants. Donations are appreciated. Registration is required.

The Enchanted Forest is our biggest party beneath the stars to support the Schuylkill Center's mission. We will honor former board presidents Kathleen Wagner and Charles "Chip" Lee III outdoors while enjoying live jazz music, locally sourced food and drink.
