Summer Wild Food Walk and Talk
June 4, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Free
Learn about wild foods and their possible adaptation for Filipinx recipes with Bahay215’s Nicky Uy. Together with environmental educator Nick Tonetti, they will enlighten you while sampling nature’s delicious diversity. Become acquainted with apple mint, mugwort, and others known to be invasive or weeds, a grouping of plants that Dr. Jessica Hernandez, Indigenous scientist and author of “Fresh Banana Leaves,” calls our ‘displaced relatives.’ As we walk on the trails and in the gallery, and listen and share traditional Filipino recipes for laing, sabaw, and other foods to attendees, we will learn from our displaced relatives and each other about ways we connect to land through food. Registration is required.
