The Center relies entirely on the generosity of Members and donors to conserve the largest privately owned tract of land within Philadelphia city limits. Donors help to protect native flora, habitat, and the streams that originate on our property and feed the Schuylkill River: the source for drinking water for our region. Our open space is also a living classroom for thousands of Greater Philadelphia K-12 schoolchildren. They explore nature and learn environmental science and ecology concepts through hands-on programs at The Center. In addition to Land Restoration and Environmental Education programs, The Center is well-known for its native species Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic and site-specific Environmental Art program. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization we operate solely on private donations. Because we are not a city, state, or federal park, we are not supported by any tax revenues. Individuals, small businesses, and institutional donors can support our mission in a number of ways!
You can direct your total gift or a portion of your gift to your favorite department (Environmental Education, Environmental Art, Land Restoration, or Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic) by providing instruction with each gift. Contact the Director of Development with questions. Honor a loved one’s commitment to wildlife, conservation issues, nature, or environmental education through tribute gifts made in memory of a decedent or in honor of an anniversary, birthday, bar/bat mitzvah or other special event. Annual Gift Memberships at every level are also available! For tribute gifts of $25.00 or more, we will send a handwritten notification of the gift to your honoree or a specified individual. Contributing donors always receive a formal acknowledgement for tax purposes. The Schuylkill Center currently recognizes Memorial contributions biannually on our website. *Coming Soon!
