The Schuylkill Center boasts multiple locations for spotting birds. While our year-round residents, like the Northern Cardinal, Blue Jay, Carolina Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpecker, and Red-tailed Hawk can be seen throughout the Center’s grounds, listed below are a few specific areas along our hiking trails that provide for excellent bird watching.

Butterfly Meadow Loop
Birds commonly seen along this trail include the Eastern Bluebird, Indigo Bunting, Chipping Sparrow, Song Sparrow, and American Goldfinch.

Ravine Loop
Birds commonly seen along this trail include the Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet Tanager, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Wood Thrush, American Redstart, and Pileated Woodpecker.

Bird Blind and Woodcock Trail
Birds commonly seen along this trail include the Eastern Towhee, Common Yellowthroat, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Gray Catbird.
