The Schuylkill Center provides educational Field Studies featuring non-releasable native Pennsylvania animals that reside at our clinic. We travel to areas in the Greater Philadelphia area visiting schools, community centers, scout meetings, birthday parties, as well as many other types of events and celebrations.

Wildlife of Pennsylvania (Ages 5 and Up)
Students will be amazed at the variety of wildlife that can be found right in their neighborhood.  See birds, mammals, and reptiles then learn about some of the dangers these animals face.  In addition to live animals, students will experience samples of bones, feathers, skulls and furs. This is an auditorium style program lasting one hour and suited for groups of up to 30.

Fee: $275 plus transportation feed based on mileage and travel time from the Schuylkill Center.

Classroom style programs feature a combination of live animals and hands-on activities:

Owls
Did you know Pennsylvania is home to eight species of owls?  Meet two of The Schuylkill Center’s non-releasable owls.  Learn about the lore of these interesting animals and perform an owl pellet dissection to investigate their diet.

Reptiles and Amphibians

Herpetology is the study of the scaly and the slimy: reptiles and amphibians.  Help dispel students’ fear of these unique creatures and learn about their adaptations for survival with an up-close look at live turtles and snakes and fun, hands-on activities.

Classroom style programs last one hour and are suited for groups of up to 30.

Fee: $175 plus transportation feed based on mileage and travel time from the Schuylkill Center.
