Membership
The tie that binds Schuylkill Center Members together is their collective love of nature and overarching concern for Environmental issues and conservation. Our Members are scientists, adventurers, animal lovers, gardeners, and passionate advocates.
Each level of Membership is tied to an array of annual benefits. With four unique departments, a full annual calendar of outdoor and indoor events for all ages, and 340 acres of forest, hiking trails, ponds, streams, and meadows just nine miles from City Hall on the banks of Schuylkill River Bike Trail, we’re more than just a walk in the woods.
You can become a individual Member today, renew your annual Membership or give the gift of Membership to a friend or loved one with a base annual fee of $40.00 or more.
All Members receive a membership card entitling them to benefits corresponding to their level of support. The Schuylkill Center is now conducting a once (1) per year Annual Membership Drive in March and will no longer send Membership renewal reminders. However, individuals and institutions are welcome to join, renew, or upgrade their Memberships throughout the year.

Basic Individual ($40.00)
- free access to our conserved trails, ponds, meadows, and 340 acre site, 365 days per year from dawn to dusk
- discounted admission to public programs and events
- Quarterly calendar of programs and events by mail and bi-monthly event updates by email
- Quarterly newsletter, The Quill
- exclusive invitations to Members-only events, like the annual Native Plant Sale preview (Members only receive a free plant!) and annual Members-only Picnic
- 10% discount at The Center’s bookstore & 20% discount on Birdseed during Birdseed Sales
- Garden Plot rentals on a seasonal basis.
Reciprocal admission and/or discounts at nature centers across America through ANCA (Association of Nature Center Administrators)
Family ($60.00)
- All benefits associated with Individual Membership PLUS
- Priority registration for Schuylkill Center Summer Camps
- $20.00 discount per week on Summer Camps
- Ability to host your child’s themed Birthday Party at the Schuylkill Center (members-only)
- Discounts on Nature for the Young program series and winter (indoors) activities at the Schuylkill Center.
- Free Schuylkill Center decal
Contributing Level ($100.00)
- All benefits associated with Individual Membership
- Valuable discounts at participating Greater Philadelphia and/or online retailers.
Institutional ($125.00)
- Institution receives a max. of 20 annual Membership cards, plus an original in the Institution’s name
- Institution receives a Quarterly calendar of programs and events by mail and bi-monthly event updates by email.
- Institution receives copies of our quarterly newsletter, The Quill
- Invitations to Members-only events, like the annual Native Plant sale preview (Members-only receive a free plant!) and annual Members-only Picnic (Limit 5 RSVP’s per event per Institutional Membership please.)
- Priority registration for Act 48 Continuing Education seminars
- Educators receive 10% discount at The Center’s bookstore during group visits.
- Access to Loan Box program for Educators.
- $1.00 off per child for Half-Day Educational Programs & $2.00 off per child for Full-Day Educational Programs during the months of December to March.
- $5.00 off per person for group Challenge (Ropes) Course events at The Center (offered through our insured provider, The Adventure Network)
- Discount on Facilities Rentals.
- Proof of Membership for your Institution to display.
Carson Level Member ($250.00)
- All benefits associated with Individual Membership PLUS
- Valuable discounts redeemable at participating Greater Philadelphia and/or online retailers.
- One (1) Schuylkill Center logo baseball cap.
Leopold Level Member ($500.00)
- All benefits associated with Individual Membership PLUS
- Valuable discounts redeemable at participating Greater Philadelphia and/or online retailers.
- VIP invitation to an annual, private reception for Leopold, Thoreau and Planned Gift Society members.
Thoreau Level Member ($1,000 +)
- All benefits associated with Individual Membership PLUS
- Valuable discounts redeemable at participating Greater Philadelphia and/or online retailers.
- VIP invitation to an annual, private reception for Leopold, Thoreau and Planned Gift Society members.
- Two (2) invitations to our annual Spring celebration.
